Shaun King Antiques has dated this piece to the 1850s.

The DRY-BODIED STONEWARE JUG was made by T. & R. BOOTE of BURSLEM and, to the base, bears the splendid rhyme:
"Farewell Great Statesman!
Long will they honest worth be missed.
In the Councils of the Nation.

And when the time of England's difficulty comes.
Then will the people truly feel
The Patriot they have lost in Robert Peel."
At some time the metal lid has come off the Jug and been reglued. There is an old, tight hairline running down from the rim for about 0.75 inch (2 cm) and some old chips round the pins on the inside. There is an abrasion to his nose on one side and some tiny nicks to the footrim.
This JUG is a wonderful colour with marvellously crisp full length mouldings of Sir Robert Peel.
Height: 8.25 inches (21 cm)
