Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Chests of drawers from the late 17th century, particularly during the Carolean and William and Mary periods, typically feature decorative walnut veneers, teardrop brass handles with matching escutcheons, and heavy turned bun feet.

These pieces were built using a solid softwood or oak carcass overlaid with figured walnut or burr walnut veneers. Drawer linings were usually crafted from oak or pine, joined with thick hand-cut dovetails.

Authentic pieces display signs of age such as hand-cut dovetail joints, irregular hand-forged nails, wood shrinkage splits along side panels, and original brassware attached with cast brass wire split pins.

A period walnut chest can serve as a focal point in a hallway or bedroom. Contrast the warm timber grain and historic brasswork by pairing it with clean contemporary lighting and minimalist artwork above.

Keep timber furniture away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent veneer cracking and colour bleaching. Maintain stable relative humidity and apply high-quality natural beeswax periodically.
