Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

George II walnut furniture, dating from roughly 1727 to 1760, is known for its balanced proportions, use of figured walnut veneers, featherbanded borders, and decorative brass hardware. Pieces from this period frequently feature bracket feet and functional elements such as brushing slides.

These chests were predominantly constructed using solid oak or pine for the internal carcass and drawer linings, overlaid with figured walnut or burr walnut veneers. Drawer fronts often feature crossbanding or featherbanding, accompanied by cast brass backplates, handles, and escutcheons.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-correct construction techniques, such as hand-cut dovetail joints, oak drawer linings with grain running front-to-back, and natural oxidisation on the underside and rear panels. Original brassware will show hand-chased details and irregular wear consistent with age.

A compact walnut chest functions as a focal point in a hallway, bedroom, or living space by contrasting rich wood tones against neutral or contemporary wall palettes. Topping the piece with modern ceramic lighting or minimalist artwork balances traditional craftsman details with contemporary design.

Preserve the finish by keeping the timber away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent drying or veneer lifting. Clean the surface using a soft, dry cloth and apply a beeswax polish sparingly once or twice a year to maintain the protective patination.
