S and S Timms Antiques Ltd has dated this 18th Century Walnut Chest to the Georgian era.
The wavy moulded edge almost has an anglo indian. or portugese feel to it from a stylistical perspective, although the rest of it is very much typically english 18th century.

It retains a good, warm colour throughout and although the handles are relatively modern replacements, they are very much in the style of the period this chest was made and look lovely on it. The shaped bracket feet appear to be a slightly different grain of timber to the rest of the chest and this leads us to believe they are also old replacements, but when viewing from underneath they look absolutely like they could be original. Maybe the cabinet maker just different have enough of the same type of wood left!

A good size, with fully operational drawers, locks and keys this is absolutely perfect for just about any modern day living purpose one can think, with the added bonus of being constructed from a particularly dense, hard wearing walnut which means that it is more than capable of taking a few knocks, bumbs and scrapes when in use.

As with all items we offer for sale this chest of drawers has been attended to in our workshops by our highly skilled, trained professional antique furniture restorers, cumlinating in a natural wax polish, ensuring it is very much ready for immediate home use.
