Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A chest on stand, also known as a highboy or tallboy, is a two-part furniture design originating in the late 17th and early 18th centuries. It features an upper chest of drawers resting on a lower table-like base with legs.

These pieces were primarily crafted using native walnut or walnut veneers over oak frames. Later examples incorporated crossbanded herringbone borders and solid brass drop handles with pierced backplates.

Authentic pieces display hand-cut dovetail joints, hand-sawn oak drawer linings, naturally aged brass fittings, and characteristic cabriole or turned legs typical of the Queen Anne and George I periods.

A walnut chest on stand works as a focal piece in a bedroom, hallway, or living room when offset by neutral wall colours, contemporary artwork, and minimal decorative accessories.

Keep the wood away from direct sunlight and central heating sources to prevent drying and veneer lifting. Treat the surface periodically with clear beeswax polish and dust with a soft, lint-free cloth.
