A large and rare Staffordshire transfer painted jug c 1850

This lovely jug is transfer printed with British indigenous animals such as badgers and Scottish bobcats as well as cows and horses and appears an unrecorded pattern. Similar designs with circus animals were manufactured by Elmore and Foster in the late 1840's. (Apart from a large star crack to the underside this jug is in great condition.)

Size 14.5 ins wide 12 ins high
