Antique English Pewter U Shape 1 Quart Measure, Circa 1870, by Harton & Son of London, Kent Verifications

Description

Antique English pewter U shaped 1 quart measure with broad flared foot; double scroll handle with fishtail terminal, decorative fillets to the drum. Made by Harton & Son of High Holborn, London.

Verification marks to the right of handle, for Rochester City, Kent and a ‘QUART’ stamp. There is a clear makers mark to the left of the handle.

The measure is engraved with the initials ‘JW’ to the front and the name of the ‘Globe & Laurel’ is engraved to the base. This Public House was in Gillingham, Kent.

The measure is in excellent condition with a polished silver grey finish. There are no repairs or damage.

Circa 1870.

Base diameter: 4.5in (11.4cm).

Rim Diameter: 4.0in (10cm).
