Lee Hawkins Antiques & Interiors has dated this French Empire Salon Suite to the 19th Century.
Classical mask medallions enrich the upper rails, framed by symmetrical scrolling foliage, while further rosettes, floral mounts and foliate ornament decorate the lower rails and tapering front legs. The settee carries the same decorative vocabulary on a broader scale, with shaped arms and upholstered arm pads creating a cohesive formal arrangement. Hawkins Antiques

All three pieces are upholstered in coordinated champagne-toned fabric patterned with small bees and laurel wreaths, a particularly appropriate motif for the Empire Revival aesthetic. Braided edging defines the upholstered backs, seats and arm pads, contrasting attractively with the reddish-brown mahogany and warm gilt detailing. Hawkins Antiques

Complete 19th-century salon suites are increasingly difficult to source intact, and this example has strong decorative and collector appeal because the three pieces retain consistent materials, proportions and ornament throughout. The suite can be displayed together as a formal seating group or divided within the same room while retaining visual continuity.

Ideal for a drawing room, reception room, bedroom or refined period interior.
Hawkins Antiques has specialised in fine furniture for over six decades, with each piece individually selected and accurately described.
