This Georgian Chelsea Derby porcelain chocolate cup, cover and stand dates from around 1775. The set employs soft-paste porcelain finished in deep cobalt blue glaze, crisp white enamels and extensive gold leaf application, presenting twin loop handles, a ring finial to the domed cover, and a scalloped rim on the stand. Acanthus moulding features throughout, heightened in gold against the blue ground, while the stand incorporates a painted central medallion depicting a winged cherub holding a flaming torch amid billowing clouds. Gold conjoined anchor and D marks appear on the base. The stand measures 18 cm in diameter, and the cup stands 14 cm high and 14 cm wide handle to handle. In a modern interior, this piece serves as a sophisticated display item suitable for placement on a polished sideboard top or within a glass-fronted cabinet in a dining room or drawing room setting. It complements traditional or classical decor schemes, bringing historical character and fine ceramic craftsmanship to a living space.

Produced during the period between 1769 and 1784 when William Duesbury managed both the Chelsea and Derby manufactories, these double-handled covered cups and matching stands were specifically designed for consuming hot chocolate during the 18th century.

These vessels were crafted from soft-paste porcelain, decorated with dark cobalt blue ground glazes, hand-painted enamel details, and burnished gold leaf gilding.

Authentic pieces feature translucent soft-paste porcelain bodies, precise hand gilding, and period factory marks such as the combined anchor and gold or red D mark on the base.

Display the cup, lid, and stand inside a glazed cabinet, on a sideboard top, or arranged amongst decorative art objects on an open shelf.

Wipe gently using lukewarm water and a non-abrasive soft microfiber cloth, avoiding chemical cleaners, full immersion, or friction over gilded areas.
