Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This nineteenth-century French provincial laundry table presents a rustic farmhouse aesthetic, constructed from timber with a natural wood finish. The piece features a plank top supported by A-frame trestle legs and a central foot stretcher, demonstrating pegged joinery and a weathered, patinated surface showing signs of age. The timber displays natural grain patterns and a pale tone across its weathered boards. Practical for placement beside the front door or in a hallway as a console, the table measures 76 cm high, 132 cm wide, and 41 cm deep. It offers a compact surface for everyday storage or display within a home today.

FAQs

French laundry tables, or tables a laver, were functional utility pieces crafted during the 19th and early 20th centuries for washing, folding, and preparing linens in domestic and commercial laundries.

These tables were typically constructed from robust local hardwoods such as oak, pine, or elm, designed with simple joinery and mortise-and-tenon joints to endure heavy daily use.

Authentic pieces display genuine surface wear, scrubbed or weathered finishes from exposure to water and soap, pegged joinery, and structural proportions built specifically for standing work.

A narrow laundry table functions effectively as a hallway console table, a kitchen prep surface, or a sofa back table to add textural contrast within contemporary living spaces.

Regular dusting with a soft dry cloth maintains the timber, while occasional applications of clear matte wax can protect the unsealed grain without altering the authentic patinated finish.
