Antique Pair Chinese Lacquer Low Tables

1900 - 1920
Description

This is a lovely pair of Chinese chinoiserie tables in red lacquer with beautifully illustrated surfaces, one depicting birds in flight above colourful flowers the other with a large waterbird in pools with ferns and foliage. The tables have an elegant plain design with typical Chinese style and are in good sound condition.

The surfaces are hand painted on antique leather panels and are interestingly equally decorated to both sides ( i.e. the underside of the table) so it suggests that the tops were repurposed possibly from an antique Chinese room screen.

The pair are both a lovely colour and have great charm as well as being very practical.

These measure 52 cms square and are 42 cms high.

Rams Head Antiques is a family business based in Wolsingham in Weardale where we have had shop premises for 28 years. The shop is generally open every Saturday from 11 am till 3 pm.
