5ft Long Rustic Antique Pine Bench

1900 - 1920
Description

Great age and use marks to this rustic antique Edwardian solid pine bench, circa 1910.

Very sturdy and totally happy to seat three adults if you are looking to use it as a kitchen table bench seat for example, or it’s ideal for a hall bench.

Good solid condition and as mentioned, there are plenty of age and use marks, perhaps suggesting this has been a school bench at some point?!

Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A traditional country pine bench typically features a simple plank seat supported by trestle legs or slab ends, constructed for utility in 19th-century kitchens, schools, or chapels.

Antique pine benches were constructed from solid softwood boards using simple mortise and tenon joints or wedged construction, frequently finished with wax, dark stains, or paint.

Authentic pieces feature signs of age including surface wear along the seat edges, original joinery, hand-cut timber variations, and genuine patina from repeated handling.

A pine bench functions effectively when positioned in an entryway, arranged alongside a dining table, or placed against a long wall to add historic texture.

Dust the bench regularly with a clean microfibre cloth and apply clear beeswax paste periodically to retain moisture in the wood and protect the original finish.
