A medieval jug, probably for wine, well potted in stoneware, reputedly found at a dig, very good condition with just a chip to the rim otherwise sound. A very interesting piece of early pottery.

This medieval German stoneware jug from Siegburg originates from the fourteenth century and stands 24 cm tall. Potted in a robust earth-toned ceramic, the piece displays a mottled grey-brown glaze with subtle tonal variations across its bulbous body, horizontal turning ridges wrapping around the exterior, and a simple arched handle attached at the neck.
