This 18th-century antique Chippendale period kettle stand is made of dark brown mahogany with a polished finish. The piece takes the form of an occasional table, featuring an octagonal galleried tray top with a moulded edge above a fluted column stem and a spiral twist urn. Below the central turned shaft, the structure is supported by three cabriole legs adorned with acanthus leaf carving, terminating in scroll feet with a carved platform. The entire piece stands 64 cm high, 26 cm wide, and 26 cm deep. In a modern interior, this compact table serves as an occasional piece suited for placement at the end of a sofa or in a corner of a traditional living space. Its elevated surface holds small display items, a cup, or a decorative accessory.

Designed during the Georgian era, kettle stands were compact, elevated tables created to hold hot tea kettles or urns, protecting primary furniture surfaces from heat during formal tea service.

Craftsmen primarily utilised dense mahogany, constructing the tripod base from solid timber with hand-carved motifs, fluted stems, and dovetailed or pegged joint construction.

Authentic period examples feature hand-carved details such as acanthus leaves or scroll feet, original hand-cut joinery beneath the top, and wood density consistent with 18th-century mahogany.

These compact accent pieces function effectively as drink tables beside armchairs, display pedestals in alcoves, or occasional stands in formal living spaces and hallways.

Maintain the finish by dusting regularly with a clean microfibre cloth, applying beeswax sparingly once or twice a year, and positioning the item away from direct heat sources.
