Antique Afshar Carpet

1900 - 1920
Description

This is a beautiful tribal Afshar Rug with a very attractive colour palette dating from around 1920. The colourful field has a geometric design of colourful diamond lozenges containing tribal motifs in shades of warm red, ivory and cobalt blue. These are framed by indigo and teal borders of flowerheads, flanked by multiple guard stripes and barber poles.

A very characterful carpet, this is in excellent condition for its age with only minor losses to a couple of the corners.

It has a good even pile with no wear.

A useful size this measures 177cm by 143cm
