Description

South persia.

Last quarter of the 19th century kerman area.

Dark blue ground with interesting repeat all over one way central pattern. Nice mustard yellow.

Has been hand washed,last two images,plenty of images to look at.

All over low pile with subtle wear. Light blue side cords with wear. Minor fringes with bit of end loss.

Size is 5 foot 8 inches by 4 foot 6 inches. 173cm by 137cm. At widest points. Wool pile hand knotted onto woollen foundations with the wefts dyed light blue.

Weighs 4.9kg. U.k post £20.

Reasonably priced for a nice overall look £499 gbp. Bank transfers,discussions,etc all welcomed.

Afshar rugs are hand-knotted textiles traditionally created by nomadic and semi-nomadic Turkic tribes in southeastern Iran. They are characterised by geometric patterns, stylized floral motifs, and bold colour palettes dominated by deep blues and terracotta reds.

These carpets are crafted using hand-spun sheep wool for the pile, knotted onto a wool or cotton foundation. Natural plant and mineral dyes are traditionally employed to create rich, long-lasting tones across the wool yarns.

Genuine pieces feature asymmetric hand-tied knots, slight irregularities in weave and symmetry, and natural colour variations known as abrash. The back of the rug displays a clear replica of the front pattern due to hand-knotting.
