Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Cairoware refers to brass and copper decorative objects produced primarily in Cairo and Damascus during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. These pieces were created during the Mamluk Revival movement, featuring intricate Islamic motifs, Arabic script, and mixed-metal inlays.

Traditional Cairoware furniture is constructed using sheet brass that is pierced, hand-chased, and hammered. The brass surface is decorated with inlaid copper and white-metal details alongside openwork arabesque foliage and calligraphic panels.

Authentic pieces display hand-cut openwork, hand-chased calligraphy, and hand-applied metal wire or foil inlays. Age-appropriate oxidisation within the recessed areas and visible hand-hammered joinery further indicate period authenticity.

An inlaid brass kursi table functions well as an accent table beside upholstered seating or in a reading corner. Directing ambient lighting towards the pierced openwork highlights the geometric patterns and projects shadows across adjacent surfaces.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and avoid harsh chemical cleaners that can strip the natural patina. Maintain stable indoor humidity to prevent premature tarnishing or green copper oxidisation.
