We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Regency convex mirror is a circular wall mirror with curved glass that bulges outwards, designed in the early nineteenth century to reflect light and offer an expanded view of a room. These frames typically feature gilded ornamentation, ebonised slips, and decorative crestings such as carved eagles or foliage.

Traditional construction relies on carved wood or moulded gesso over wood, finished with gold leaf gilding. The inner rim usually contains an ebonised wooden slip holding a curved convex glass pane.

Authentic period pieces and high-quality reproductions feature heavy giltwood or plaster frameworks, ball moulding around the frame perimeter, an ebonised reeded slip, and hand-carved decorative motifs such as acanthus leaves and spread eagles.

A gilt eagle convex mirror serves as a focal point when placed above a fireplace mantelpiece, a hallway console table, or a dining room sideboard. Its reflective surface adds depth and warm metallic tones to both traditional and modern schemes.

Dust the frame gently using a dry, soft feather duster or soft microfibre cloth without applying pressure. Avoid liquid solvents, water, or commercial glass cleaners on the gilded surfaces, as moisture can dissolve gesso and remove gold leaf.
