Popularised in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, these pieces often incorporate convex glass and classical motifs such as eagles or foliate carving.

Traditional Regency girandoles were constructed from carved pine or lime wood coated in gesso and finished with water or oil gilding using gold leaf. The candle branches were typically cast in brass or wrought iron and mounted directly to the frame.
