Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Regency convex mirror is a circular wall mirror originating from the early 19th century, characterised by an outward-curving glass pane set within a moulded gilded frame, frequently embellished with spheres and carved crestings such as eagles or foliage.

These mirrors were traditionally constructed using hand-carved wooden frames finished in gesso and gold leaf gilding, combined with ebonised wooden inner sight rings and convex blown plate glass.

Authentic period examples feature hand-cut timber backing boards, original water gilding that shows subtle red or grey bole beneath wear, minor oxidisation on the original convex mirror plate, and hand-carved decorative motifs.

Positioning a convex mirror above a fireplace mantelpiece, sideboard, or console table creates a focal point that reflects natural light and provides a panoramic view of the room.

Dust the gilded surface lightly using a dry feather duster or soft brush, avoiding water or chemical polishes, and gently clean the glass plate with a slightly damp microfibre cloth without contacting the surrounding gold leaf.
