Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Regency convex mirror is a circular wall mirror originating from early 19th-century Britain, featuring outward-curving glass. These pieces were traditionally framed in carved giltwood decorated with ball mouldings, ebonised inner slips, and ornate crestings such as eagles, dragons, or foliage.

These mirrors were constructed from carved wood or composition ornament over pine frames, coated with gesso and hand-applied gold leaf. The inner rim typically features a painted ebonised wood slip, while the glass is blown and shaped into a convex dome.

Authentic Regency mirrors exhibit signs of hand-gilding, natural age-related wear to the gold leaf, and an ebonised reeded inner slip. The mirror glass may display light foxing, and the backboard is usually carved or turned pine held in place with hand-forged fittings.

Place a convex mirror above a fireplace mantel, sideboard, or console table to act as a focal point. Its curved glass distorts light and provides a panoramic view of the room, adding spatial depth and architectural interest to traditional or eclectic interiors.

Dust giltwood frames gently using a dry, soft camel-hair brush, avoiding water or chemical cleaners that can dissolve water-gilding and gesso. Clean the convex glass with a lightly damp lint-free cloth, ensuring no moisture touches the gilded frame.
