Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This 1920 bedroom suite includes a two-door limed oak wardrobe and a matching dressing table, representing the Art Deco period. The timber displays a warm golden oak colour with visible grain, accented by pale green limed recesses on the turned cabriole-style front legs and lower stretcher of the dressing table. The wardrobe has a rectangular geometric metal and carved wood decorative plaque mounted across the top of the double doors, accompanied by small round wooden drawer pulls on the dressing table. The dressing table is fitted with an adjustable triptych mirror mounted on top. Each piece exhibits natural surface wear and minor marks appropriate for an antique suite of this age, whilst maintaining its structural form. Designed for domestic bedroom settings, this wardrobe and dressing table pairing offers practical storage and personal grooming space. The wardrobe stands at 165 cm high, providing substantial vertical hanging capacity alongside the dressing table. The suite suits placement in a master bedroom or guest room, functioning well in interiors styled around period or eclectic modern decor. Its clean geometric lines and warm timber tones coordinate easily with various colour schemes while retaining authentic early twentieth-century character.

FAQs

Art Deco bedroom furniture from the 1920s is defined by clean geometric lines, streamlined forms, and subtle architectural details. Furniture makers often incorporated contrasting trim materials, specialized surface treatments such as limed finishes, and integrated features like integrated triptych mirrors.

Limed oak furniture relies on solid oak and oak veneers, where a white lime paste is worked into the open wood grain to highlight the timber texture. Handles, mounts, and trim pieces were commonly fabricated from patinated brass, painted metal, ceramic, or moulded Bakelite.

Authentic Heals pieces often feature a small ivory, bone, or metal makers badge inset into a drawer edge or cabinet interior. In addition, Heals design characteristics include high-grade timber construction, precision joinery, and restrained decorative mouldings typical of British Arts and Crafts and Art Deco style transitions.

Limed oak pairs effectively with neutral wall palettes, soft linen textiles, and contemporary matte black or warm brass lighting accents. Placing a light oak bedroom set against contrasting dark or textured backdrop walls draws attention to the wood grain and geometric metalwork.

Limed oak should be dusted regularly with a dry, soft microfibre cloth and protected from direct sunlight and heat sources. Avoid harsh chemical sprays or excess water, applying a clear beeswax paste sparingly along the direction of the grain to preserve the original limed finish.
