Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Yomut rugs were traditionally woven by the Yomut tribe, one of the primary nomadic Turkmen groups originating from Central Asia. These textiles feature distinct geometric tribal emblems, known as gols, and were originally crafted for nomadic tents and domestic utility.

Turkoman carpets are typically woven entirely from hand-spun wool on wool warps and wefts, using natural dyes derived from plants, roots, and minerals. Madder root provides the characteristic deep red and burgundy shades predominant in these textiles.

Authentic pieces exhibit dense hand-knotted wool construction, soft natural dye variations known as abrash, and specific recurring geometric motifs unique to individual tribes. The back of the rug shows clear knot structures corresponding directly to the pattern seen on the front face.

A dark red geometric rug provides a strong visual anchor in contemporary or traditional rooms with neutral timber or stone flooring. Designers frequently pair these textiles with dark leather furniture, brass accents, or mid-century timber pieces to add depth and warmth.

Suction-only vacuuming without a rotating beater bar prevents fibre damage, while periodic rotation ensures even wear from foot traffic and sunlight. Professional dry cleaning or specialist rug washing is recommended to preserve natural dyes and hand-knotted fibres.
