Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Mahdad Khani Baluch rugs were woven by nomadic and semi-nomadic tribes residing in the Khorasan region of northeastern Persia. These carpets are celebrated for their dark colour palettes, intricate geometric medallions, and high-quality wool construction.

Traditional Baluch rugs are hand-knotted using locally sourced hand-spun wool for both the pile and the warp and weft foundation. The yarn is coloured using natural vegetable dyes, yielding rich tones of dark red, navy, brown, and ivory.

Authentic pieces feature dark goatskin or wool selvedges, flexible wool foundations, and dense, compact knotting. They display slight weave irregularities characteristic of tribal handloom production and present soft, rich patination from aged natural dyes.

A Baluch rug adds grounding warmth and tactile texture to contemporary interior schemes. Placing it over natural timber floorboards, pairing it with dark leather upholstery, or layering it atop neutral sisal carpets accents the geometric pattern.

Vacuum regularly using suction only without a rotating brush bar to avoid pulling the wool fibres. Address spills immediately by blotting with a clean cloth, and seek professional dry cleaning specialised in antique hand-knotted textiles.
