A group of three very fine Chinese Export porcelain coffee cups. Qing Dynasty, Qianlong Period. 1736 - 1795.

Highly refined and exquisitely enameled famille rose porcelain cups. Masterfully painted in vibrant famille rose enamels. All 3 exhibit extremely fine and superior-quality continuous narrative painted scenes. Depicting family life, mandarin officials, scholars, harbour scenes, nobleman and cartouches with extremely finely painted birds sitting in trees. The attention to detail in the colourful clothing and formal costumes is superb. This multi-layered visual storytelling portrays themes of journey, education, wisdom, and hierarchy in Qing society, amidst virtues of every-day life.

The gilded rococo-style scrolling borders and diaper decoration framing the figural panels are finely executed with rich gold accents, adding a luxurious touch typical of imperial-quality famille rose porcelain.The superior quality of enameling, delicate brushwork, and gilded detailing suggests these cups were possibly produced in the prestigious Jingdezhen kilns for high-ranking officials or the export market catering to European aristocrats. These examples demonstrate artistic refinement closer to Yongzheng-period famille rose pieces. Superb.

Condition: Excellent with very minor hairlines. Some rubbing to gilding as expected. Centre piece in photographs possibly signed (or could be a sailing boat).

Qianlong period Chinese export porcelain refers to ceramic wares produced in China during the reign of Emperor Qianlong (17361795) specifically for European and Western export markets, characterised by detailed polychrome enamel decoration and domestic figurative scenes.

These cups were crafted from kaolin clay and petuntse to create a hard-paste porcelain body, fired at high temperatures in Jingdezhen kilns, and subsequently hand-painted with overglaze enamels before undergoing a secondary lower-temperature muffle firing.
