A stunning antique Arts and Crafts oak side table or lamp table, dating from circa 1900. With rectangular over-sailing top, lovely arched details to the apron and standing on four tapered legs with tear drop cut outs and united by an H-cross stretcher. The piece is unmarked but is reminiscent of E.G. Punnett for William Birch. It is constructed of substantial quarter-sawn oak and is very well-made, the medullary rays in the grain are very well defined. Solid and sturdy, a stylish table with good colour and beautiful original patina would make a great lamp table or side table.

We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

Originating in the late 19th century, the Arts and Crafts movement championed traditional craftsmanship, honest construction, and simple forms inspired by medieval and vernacular traditions, in reaction to mass-produced industrialisation.

Pieces from this period predominantly utilised native hardwoods such as oak, featuring visible joinery like pegged mortise and tenon joints, hand-planed surfaces, and functional, sturdy construction.

Authenticity is identified through hand-crafted joinery marks, natural timber grain variations such as medullary rays in quarter-sawn oak, lack of modern machine tooling, and appropriate patination consistent with age.

An antique wooden table provides functional warmth and textural contrast in contemporary settings, working well paired with minimalist upholstery, modern lighting, or as a standalone accent piece.

Preservation involves maintaining stable indoor humidity levels, avoiding direct sunlight and heat sources, and treating the timber periodically with traditional beeswax to nourish the wood and protect the finish.
