These tall console tables originate from the 19th Century in an Art Deco style. The pair are manufactured from ebonised hardwood with a black finish, displaying square moulded tops above shaped aprons and outward-curving legs connected by lower stretchers. Each narrow console table stands 86 cm high, 45 cm wide, and 26 cm deep. Such decorative items suit placement beside the front door in an entrance hall or living space to hold small everyday items or ornaments. Their slender proportions mean they fit neatly into compact areas, providing practical surface space without obstructing walkways. The striking black tone and curved structural lines bring visual interest to plain interior walls, complementing contemporary or period decorative schemes alike.

During the 1920s, furniture design transitioned between late Art Nouveau fluid lines and early Art Deco geometry, often featuring slender silhouettes, ebonised finishes, and refined curved supports.

Craftsmen typically utilised dense hardwoods such as beech, mahogany, or birch, which were stained or lacquered dark to achieve an ebonised appearance, paired with mortise and tenon joinery.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-finished undersides, period-appropriate joinery such as pinned tenons or hand-cut frames, and natural age-related wear or faint crazing to the dark lacquer finish.

Position the pair symmetrically on either side of an entryway doorway, within a fireplace alcove, or use them to frame a large wall mirror or artwork while displaying decorative ceramics.

Dust regularly with a soft microfibre cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax paste periodically, avoiding abrasive chemical cleaners and direct sunlight to protect the dark finish.
