The Silver Cabinet has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
The sprung handle, with engraved decoration, operates the lifting of the heavy glass domed stopper. Fruiting vines decorate the body of the glass jug which, unusually, features a feeding squirrel on the finial. There is damage to the glass around the top rim and there are also a few nibbles on the body. The heavy glass has a starburst base - always a sign of quality. It is a lovely, heavy piece.
