Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Tekke Turkmen rugs originate from nomadic tribes in Central Asia, recognized for their rich red grounds and repeating octagonal motif designs known as guls. Historically woven on portable looms, these textiles served both practical and ceremonial functions within tribal encampments.

These carpets are hand-knotted predominantly from hand-spun wool on a wool warp and weft, producing a dense pile. Natural dyes, particularly madder root for deep red and terracotta tones, provide the characteristic colour palette.

Authentic pieces feature asymmetrical knots, high weave density, and classic Tekke guls arranged in precise vertical columns. Additionally, look for flat-woven ends with geometric patterning and subtle natural abrash colour variations.

A traditional Tekke rug adds warmth and historical texture to modern neutral spaces, functioning well in study areas, hallways, or beneath dining tables. The deep terracotta hue contrasts with natural timber, dark leather, and brass accents.

Vacuum regularly using suction only without a rotating beater bar to prevent damage to the pile. Rotate the rug annually to balance foot traffic and light exposure, and rely on specialist wool cleaning when treatment is required.
