An overmantel mirror is a large, decorative mirror specifically proportioned to hang or rest directly above a fireplace mantelpiece. Popularised in the 18th and 19th centuries across Europe, these mirrors were engineered to reflect candlelight and expand the perceived spatial dimensions of reception rooms.
