Georgian Antiques has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
Beneath the seat pad is a stylish moulded fore-edge with a concave section beneath, the front in amboyna with scratch carving with foliate designs which has been gilded, the corners with carved pillars with blind fretwork quarter brackets on the front. The center section with a small panel with gilding and a small flower head with further beadings beneath, with similar patterns on the sides, the back is plain. All resting on four squat turned feet with brass and brown porcelain castors beneath.
