Early 20th century Damascus Inlayed Tall Table

A true example of an early 20th century Damascus tall side table, inlaid with hand carved wooden geometric design panels of wood. The tall and slim shape is highly decorative even with its top sections damaged that could be restored however we found by putting a plant pot on top its not necessarily.

Origin: Syria

Material: Pine

Age: 1910 - 1920

A naturally aged item, that has stood the test of time, obvious loss/damage to the top surface area as shown. It could be used as a refurbishment project, we have left the item as seen and the price reflects this as a mint condition example would be twice as much.

Damascus furniture refers to intricately crafted wooden pieces originating from Syria, traditionally featuring geometric mosaic patterns created using fine wood veneers, bone, and metal wire.

These tables are traditionally constructed from hard woods such as walnut or beech, meticulously inlaid with contrasting light woods, fruitwoods, mother-of-pearl, and sometimes bone or wire.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut geometric tessellations, natural ageing of the wood and inlay materials, traditional joinery techniques, and subtle irregularities indicative of handcraftsmanship.

Position the pedestal as a focal point in a neutral room to highlight its intricate geometry, using it to display a simple ceramic vessel or sculptural object.

Preserve the piece by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources, dusting gently with a dry microfiber cloth, and occasionally applying a microcrystalline wax to protect the wood and delicate inlays.
