How do I hang a vintage floral painting?

Support the weight securely using appropriate fixings matched to your wall type, avoiding direct, harsh sunlight that fades pigments over time. Keep paintings away from excessive moisture and sudden temperature shifts to protect the canvas and frame. Position the centre of the canvas at standard eye level for optimal viewing within your room arrangement. Ensure picture wire and D-rings are robust and stable before mounting.

What periods do these paintings come from?

The selection spans from the eighteenth century through the Victorian and Edwardian eras into the mid-twentieth century. Each period brings distinct framing styles, pigments, and canvas preparations. Earlier pieces often feature hand-ground oil pigments on relined canvases, whilst later twentieth-century works embrace bolder brushwork and modernist compositions.

Are these paintings supplied with frames?

Many pieces arrive in their original or period-appropriate frames, such as gilt gesso mouldings that complement the artwork. The listing details whether a specific frame is included with the painting. Original frames may show signs of age and wear, which contribute to the historical character of the piece. Replacements should respect the era of the artwork.
