How do I hang a heavy crystal chandelier safely?

Suspension requires fixing directly into the ceiling joist using a rated ceiling hook capable of supporting the combined weight of metal and glass. Professional installation is strongly advised to ensure the electrical wiring and structural load meet current safety standards. Once secured, adjust the drop chain to the desired height above the floor, keeping the fixture safely clear of head height while maintaining optimal visual impact in the room.

Can these vintage lights be wired for modern homes?

Most antique and vintage fixtures arrive with older wiring that requires updating to comply with current electrical regulations. Qualified electricians can easily rewire the internal channels while preserving the original brass or bronze sockets and aesthetic. Modern LED candle bulbs can also be utilised to reduce heat output, protecting fragile glass and painted tolewear components from thermal damage.

How should I clean a crystal light fitting?

Routine maintenance involves dusting the fixture gently with a feather duster or microfiber cloth while the power is switched off. For a deeper clean, spray a dedicated glass cleaner onto a cloth and wipe individual prisms rather than submerging the entire wired frame. Removing the glass drops periodically for a warm soapy wash restores their original brilliance and ensures maximum light refraction.
