Where were traditional kelleh carpets used?

These large format carpets and long rugs were placed in the principal rooms of traditional homes to cover the central floor space. Their elongated proportions suited the specific architectural dimensions of Persian and Caucasian interiors. Nomadic and village weavers produced them for domestic warmth and durability, accommodating the daily movement of families within substantial living areas.

How do I care for a kelleh carpet?

What styles do these carpets feature?

The listings encompass Persian tribal, Caucasian, and regional village aesthetics including Kurdish, Bidjar, Luri, and Karabagh styles. Border structures and knot density further assist in distinguishing mid-nineteenth-century examples from later iterations.
