How do I care for velvet upholstery?

Velvet requires gentle brushing to maintain the pile and prevent crushing over time. Keep these chairs away from direct sunlight to preserve the pink colour. Professional cleaning is recommended for any deeper maintenance to protect the historic fabric and underlying padding.

Are these chairs comfortable for daily use?

Most of these historic armchairs were built for formal reception spaces rather than lounging. They provide upright support suited for sitting in parlours or bedrooms. Checking the internal springing and padding helps determine how suitable a specific piece is for regular seating.

How do I identify a Louis XVI style frame?

Louis XVI frames are distinguished by straight, fluted legs and geometric symmetry. They contrast sharply with the curving lines of earlier Rococo designs. Carvings on these pieces often draw on classical motifs such as ribbons, urns, and acanthus leaves.

What rooms suit a giltwood armchair?

Giltwood armchairs work well as accent seating in living rooms, studies, or dressing areas. Their reflective metallic finishes add brightness and decorative presence to a corner. Pairing them with neutral walls allows the carved details and pink upholstery to stand out effectively.
