How do I place a runner?

A runner is suited for long, narrow spaces such as hallways and corridors where floor coverings need to fit specific spatial constraints. Position the piece centrally to allow the border designs and boteh motifs to remain visible along the walkway.

The boteh is an ancient Persian motif shaped like a twisted teardrop, representing a cypress tree or floral cluster. This symbol appears repeatedly across the field of many traditional carpets and runners.

How do I clean an antique rug?

Antique textiles require gentle maintenance, typically involving careful surface vacuuming without the rotating brush bar. Professional specialist cleaning is recommended for deep maintenance to preserve the wool and natural dyes.

Where were these rugs made?

The pieces originate from various weaving centres across Persia and the Caucasus, including tribal regions and established towns. Each area developed distinct structural methods and colour palettes that identify its origin.
