How do I hang a heavy iron lantern safely?

Heavy iron and glass lanterns require secure anchorage directly into ceiling joists or structural masonry using appropriate fixings. Consult a qualified electrician to ensure the wiring and ceiling mount can support the substantial weight of antique bronze or iron fixtures.

Can these antique lamps be wired for modern electricity?

Most antique lamps and lanterns accept modern internal rewiring while preserving their original exterior metal and glass components. Professionals can thread modern cables through historic brass and iron channels without altering the visible aesthetic.

What rooms suit French gothic lighting best?

These dramatic iron and bronze fixtures suit hallways, dining rooms and high-ceilinged living spaces needing strong architectural focal points. Their robust materials complement stone fireplaces, exposed beams and dark wood furniture.

How do I clean antique brass and wrought iron?

Dust wrought iron and brass gently with a dry, soft cloth to preserve the historic surface patination accumulated over decades. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners that strip the aged finish and diminish the authentic character of the metal.
