What pieces count as bedroom storage?

Edwardian bedroom storage encompasses chests of drawers, wardrobes, tallboys, cupboards, and bedside cabinets designed for holding garments and personal effects. These items use timbers like mahogany, oak, and walnut to provide functional utility within sleeping quarters.

How do I identify an Edwardian piece?

Edwardian pieces generally date from the early twentieth century, showing lighter timber tones, cleaner lines, and occasional revival styles referencing Georgian or Regency designs. Makers working in this era utilised oak and mahogany alongside inlaid satinwood banding.

Where should I place a bedside cabinet?

Bedside cabinets fit beside a bed frame to hold small lamps, books, and night-time necessities within arm reach. Their compact proportions suit smaller bedroom layouts whilst offering concealed storage inside small cupboards.

What is the difference between a chest and a tallboy?

A standard chest of drawers sits at a conventional waist or chest height with horizontal drawers stacked vertically. A tallboy extends significantly higher to create extra vertical storage capacity without taking up additional floor space.
