How do I hang a cut glass pendant?

These ceiling lights suspend from existing wiring using a brass gallery or matching ceiling rose. Professional installation is recommended to support the weight of the glass and metal. What is the difference between glass and crystal?

Crystal contains mineral additives like lead oxide that increase its weight and refractive index. This allows cut crystal to scatter light into more distinct prismatic colours than standard glass. Both materials appear frequently across the period lighting found in these selections.

Are these pendants recently rewired?

Many vintage ceiling lights are offered with modern wiring to meet current safety standards while retaining their original brass galleries and glass shades. Rewiring ensures compatibility with standard modern bulbs. Buyers should check individual listings to confirm whether electrical components have been updated.

How do I clean an antique pendant?

Remove delicate glass shades or lustres from the metal frame before washing them in warm, soapy water. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners that might damage antique brass finishes. Dry the glass thoroughly with a lint-free cloth to restore its clarity and sparkle before rehanging.
