What periods do these lamps come from?

The pieces span from the nineteenth century through the Edwardian era and into the nineteen-twenties, reflecting various revival styles. Victorian and Edwardian examples make up a large portion of the available selection. Earlier seventeenth-century influences also appear through Jacobean Revival pieces, though most items date to the later periods of domestic electrification.

Are these lamps newly wired?

Many older lamps receive updated wiring to meet modern safety standards while retaining their original aesthetic charm. Rewiring ensures the pieces function reliably for everyday domestic use. Buyers should examine specific listings to confirm the current electrical status of individual table lamps.

What woods were used for these columns?

Oak and walnut serve as the predominant timbers for these turned columns, chosen for their strength and rich grain. Burr walnut and mahogany also appear frequently on finer occasional tables and pedestals. These materials were often polished to a deep shine that highlights the intricate curves of the spiral.

How do table lamps differ from lamp tables?

A table lamp is a standalone lighting fixture designed to sit on a surface, whereas a lamp table is a small piece of furniture built to hold a lamp. Both frequently feature barley twist elements in their construction. Combinations also exist where a pedestal table incorporates integrated lighting or glass backing.
