How should I hang fragile glass art safely?

Support the wooden frame securely using appropriate wall anchors rather than relying on the glass itself. Ensure the hanging location avoids direct sunlight to protect the pigments behind the glass. Keep the panels away from areas prone to extreme temperature fluctuations to prevent stress on the glass and framing materials.

What is the difference between reverse paintings and prints?

Reverse paintings involve direct application of hand-mixed pigments onto the glass panel by an artist. Prints utilise transferred ink layers applied from engraved plates before being sealed. Both methods place the imagery behind clear glass for protection, but painted versions display individual brush strokes upon close inspection.

Why are these decorative pieces found in pairs?

Symmetrical arrangement was a central tenet of Georgian and Victorian interior design, providing balance on either side of a mantelpiece or mirror. Matching pairs were commissioned together to create visual harmony. Splitting these matched sets historically was discouraged because their decorative value relies heavily on their completeness as a pair.
