What periods do these wall pieces cover?

The selection covers items from the eighteenth century through the Georgian, Victorian, and Edwardian eras, extending into twentieth-century artistic and advertising productions. Specific dates and styles reflect prevailing tastes of each era, from classical Grand Tour collections to early motoring and shipping subjects.

How do I hang heavy framed wall art?

Heavy oil paintings and giltwood mirrors require secure wall fixings suited to the specific weight and wall construction. Professional picture hooks anchored directly into wall studs provide the necessary support for large canvases and dense wood frames. Checking the cord, wire, or D-rings on the reverse ensures the hanging hardware matches the mass of the piece.

Are these works original or reproductions?

The collection includes original period oil paintings, watercolours, and signed prints alongside historical posters and decorative panels. Each listing records the specific medium, whether hand-painted canvas, engraved paper, or period print. Detailed descriptions distinguish unique studio works from period graphic editions.

How should I care for antique frames and canvases?

Keep framed wall decor away from direct sunlight and steady moisture to protect fragile pigments, paper, and wooden joins. Dust frames gently with a dry, soft brush and avoid chemical cleaners on gilded or carved surfaces. Canvas paintings benefit from stable indoor temperatures to prevent warping of the wooden stretcher bars.
