Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

These Regency pedestal cabinets are made from mahogany with a warm brown colour and brass hardware. The pair features tapered forms standing upon solid plinth bases, square cross-banded tops over caveto moulding, and single doors inset with flame figured mahogany panels fitted with round brass knobs. Each pedestal cabinet measures 76 cm high, 40 cm wide, and 40 cm deep, with tops measuring 36 cm square. In a contemporary home, this pair of Classical Regency pieces serves ideally as bedside tables or accent pedestals in a bedroom, library, or drawing room. The compact footprint makes them suitable for flanking a bed or sofa while offering enclosed storage within their interiors.

FAQs

Regency pedestal cabinets are characteristically sleek, symmetrical storage pieces crafted during the early 19th century in Britain, often featuring tapered forms, classical proportions, and rich wood veneers.

Cabinetmakers primarily utilised dense Cuban or West Indian mahogany, frequently employing highly figured flame mahogany veneers over oak or pine carcases, finished with brass hardware.

Look for hand-cut dovetail joints, original brass handles, hand-planed secondary timbers like pine or oak, and natural patination or mellowing of the mahogany finish over time.

These versatile pedestals can serve as functional bedside tables in a bedroom setting, framing a bed, or act as flanking side cupboards in a formal dining room or hallway.

Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish annually, keeping the wood away from direct sunlight and artificial heat sources to prevent drying and cracking.
