Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This 18th-century French provincial vaisselier dresser is constructed from pine timber with an original painted finish in weathered grey showing traces of red beneath. The piece measures 112 cm high, 90 cm wide, and 27 cm deep, standing on solid wooden trestle feet. The upper section comprises tiered open shelving with shaped side boards, whilst the lower portion features a slatted spindle gallery above a trough-like storage compartment. Showing natural wear and distressed paintwork consistent with its age, the rustic farmhouse storage unit displays authentic surface patination throughout. Placed in a modern interior, this versatile country dresser serves as a decorative display unit in a kitchen, dining room, or hallway. The shallow depth allows the antique furniture piece to fit narrow corridors or compact spaces while providing practical shelving for books, kitchenware, or decorative ornaments. The open spindle front and multi-tiered design combine traditional utility with rustic charm, integrating seamlessly into vintage or contemporary spaces as a functional accent.

FAQs

A vaisselier is a traditional French country piece of furniture designed to display and store crockery, plates, and kitchenware, often featuring open shelving or spindled galleries.

These pieces were typically crafted from native hardwoods such as oak, fruitwood, or pine, often finished with layered milk paint, wax, or natural oils.

Authentic examples feature hand-cut mortise and tenon joinery, wooden peg construction, historic paint layers with natural age wear, and regional hand-carved profiles.

Position the piece in a kitchen, dining area, or wide hallway to display ceramics, linen, or glassware, allowing the textured patina to contrast against neutral modern walls.

Dust gently with a soft dry cloth, avoid chemical detergents or excessive moisture, and maintain stable indoor humidity to prevent further paint flaking or timber movement.
