Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Mid-century metal furniture manufacturers, notably companies like Salterini in the United States, popularised dramatic, ornamental ironwork for both indoor and outdoor living during the 1940s and 1950s, moving away from heavy cast iron towards lighter, whimsical wire and sheet metal designs.

These pieces are typically constructed from hand-welded wrought iron, twisted wire, and sheet metal elements, featuring intricate scrollwork and radial struts that form the characteristic fan-shaped backrest.

Authentic pieces often feature period-appropriate welded construction techniques, heavy-gauge iron, specific maker marks or stamps where applicable, and natural patination or historic painted finishes indicative of mid-century manufacturing.

This statement chair can be used as a focal point in a sunroom, paired with neutral upholstery or sheepskin throws to soften the industrial metal texture, or placed on a covered patio for eclectic contrast.

Preservation involves gently cleaning with mild soap and water, removing any active rust with fine wire wool, and applying a protective wax or rust-inhibiting clear coat to maintain the historic surface without destroying the natural patina.
