Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Edwardian side table in the Aesthetic Movement style takes the form of a two-tier occasional piece constructed from dark brown mahogany and hardwood. The square top surface sits above a lower tier, supported by slender ring-turned legs with segmented decorative bands and tapered feet. Horizontal rails and multiple angled spindle stretchers brace the lower section beneath the middle shelf, while surface wear is visible on the upper and lower wooden boards. Compact dimensions make this occasional table well suited for positioning at the end of a sofa or as a compact display stand in a gentleman's library, hallway, or living room corner.

FAQs

Developed in the late nineteenth century, Aesthetic Movement furniture emphasised simplicity, geometric forms, and Japanese design influences, often featuring slender proportions, ring-turned legs, and secondary shelves.

Craftsmen typically utilised dense hardwoods such as mahogany, walnut, or stained beech, incorporating delicate spindle work, ring-turned supports, and shellac or lacquer finishes.

Authentic period examples demonstrate precise joinery, traditional mortise and tenon joints, slender turned spindles, natural wear on contact surfaces, and balanced Anglo-Japanese geometric proportions.

These compact pieces serve effectively as side tables beside seating, functional plant stands in quiet corners, or accent surfaces for displaying lamps and ceramics.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a clear beeswax polish sparingly once or twice a year, keeping the item away from direct heat sources and damp environments.
