This Georgian lowboy is an 18th-century English country house piece fashioned from walnut with brass hardware and finished in a warm brown tone with visible patina. The structure stands on four cabriole legs terminating in splay feet, complemented by a shaped apron beneath three drawers with inlaid details and brass swing handles. The crossbanded top has a moulded edge, and the timber shows natural surface wear consistent with age. Measuring 70 cm high, 81 cm wide, and 53 cm deep, the table fits neatly beside the front door or in a hallway as a compact surface for keys and small items.

A lowboy is a small table with drawers introduced in the 18th century, designed primarily as a dressing table or side table during the William and Mary, Queen Anne, and Georgian periods.

Georgian lowboys were predominantly crafted using walnut, mahogany, or oak, featuring dovetail drawer joints, crossbanded or feathered wood veneers, and cast brass backplate handles.

Authentic pieces feature hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, secondary timber linings such as pine or oak, natural timber shrinkage across wide boards, and hand-cast brass hardware with original fitting marks.

A lowboy serves as a compact hallway console table, a unique bedside table, or an occasional writing desk in a home office or living space.

Apply a high-grade beeswax polish periodically along the grain and keep the table away from direct sunlight, radiators, or moist environments to prevent veneer lifting.
