Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This pair of nineteenth century Sheraton revival open bookcases is fashioned from mahogany, satinwood, and rosewood with a warm brown finish. Each bow-fronted cabinet has a frieze matched with oval fans at either end, fluted stiles, adjustable shelves lined in green fabric, and is supported on square tapered spade feet. The wood surfaces show visible grain patterns and rich tonal variation across the veneers and cross banding. Dimensions for each piece are 84 cm high, 28 cm wide, and 70 cm deep. These bookcases suit placement in a gentleman's library, study, or living room as functional display furniture for books and decorative objects.

FAQs

Originating in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Sheraton Revival furniture draws inspiration from Neoclassical late 18th-century designs, characterized by graceful proportions, geometric marquetry, refined veneers, and tapered legs.

These pieces typically feature mahogany or satinwood veneers, intricate satinwood or boxwood crossbanding, stringing inlays, and occasionally fabric-lined interior shelves with turned or square tapered legs.

Authentic pieces exhibit precise joinery, fine decorative veneers like satinwood or mahogany, Neoclassical motifs such as oval paterae, shell inlays, and reeded or fluted columns along the stiles.

Low bow-fronted bookcases work exceptionally well in hallways, living rooms, or alcoves, providing functional storage for books or decorative objects while leaving wall space open above for framed artwork or mirrors.

Keep the furniture away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent veneer lift or fading, dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth and applying beeswax sparingly along the grain of the wood.
