Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

FAQs

French occasional tables gained prominence during the 18th and 19th centuries, particularly within neoclassical and Louis XVI revival periods, where small, movable pieces of furniture were utilised for decorative and functional purposes in salons and boudoirs.

Authentic pieces typically feature solid hardwood carcasses such as mahogany, walnut, or fruitwood, often adorned with marquetry or parquetry veneer, and are finished with inset marble slabs and cast brass or bronze galleries.

Authentication involves examining the joinery methods, such as hand-cut dovetails within drawers, natural oxidisation on brass components, hand-carved details, and the ageing patterns inherent to older wood and natural stone.

These pieces function effectively as contrasting accents in modern spaces, serving as bedside tables, display surfaces for ceramics, or sophisticated companions beside minimalist sofas to introduce historical texture and craftsmanship.

Maintain timber using appropriate wax polishes to prevent drying, protect marble surfaces from acidic spills and moisture using coasters, and avoid placing antique furniture in direct sunlight or near direct heat sources.
